CuyEast Chamber Annual Meeting Celebrates Growth, Leadership, and Connection

The Cuyahoga East Chamber of Commerce brought together more than 80 members, sponsors, and community leaders on November 5 at the Marriott in Warrensville Heights to celebrate a year of strong growth and teamwork.
The program opened with a welcome and recognition of local officials, including Mayor Annette M. Blackwell of Maple Heights, Mayor Matt Burke of Garfield Heights, Mayor Brad Sellers of Warrensville Heights, and Mayor David Smith of North Randall.
A video message from Karen DiSanto, Chamber Chair and President of W.F. Hann & Sons, set the tone for the day. Karen reflected on the Chamber’s incredible year—big membership gains, new programs, and deeper partnerships with local communities. She reminded everyone that growth isn’t only about numbers. It’s about impact, connection, and opportunity. She also previewed new initiatives in marketing, workforce development, and chapter expansion for the coming year.
Executive Director Steve Petti shared that Chamber membership has grown from 175 to over 370 businesses in the past year. He credited events, member benefits, expanded programs, and the launch of a free Basic Membership. “We’ve rebuilt, we’ve expanded, and we’re connecting more businesses than ever,” he said.
Sponsors were a major part of the celebration. Representatives from WF Hann & Sons, First National Bank, Jack Thistledown Racino, New Image Media, First Federal Lakewood, The New RC Insurance Agency, the City of Garfield Heights, Warrensville Heights, and North Randall introduced themselves and spoke about their commitment to the Chamber. “None of what we do would be possible without our sponsors,” Steve said. “They’re the backbone of our events, programs, and everything that keeps this Chamber running strong.”

The Chamber also announced the kickoff of its 2026 Sponsorship Campaign, encouraging members to get involved early. The campaign offers affordable, high-impact ways for local businesses to gain visibility and support the region’s business community.
Karen then introduced the Board of Directors: Vice Chair Faith Boone, Treasurer Sheila Gibbons, Secretary Bonny Bird, and new board member Maria Prevesk. Faith noted the energy in the room and how great it was to see so many new faces and businesses connecting.

The Chamber also recognized Wayne Lawrence, the organization’s first Chair, for his leadership and ongoing involvement. Wayne helped launch the Chamber and continues to support its growth through projects like the “Blessing or a Curse” podcast.
Several volunteers and partners were also recognized for going above and beyond this year. Their support and dedication continue to push the Chamber’s regional vision forward.
Mayor Matt Burke shared how valuable the Chamber has been in helping Garfield Heights build stronger relationships with local businesses. “When I took office, I didn’t just want to inspect businesses—I wanted to connect with them,” he said. “CuyEast has helped us build those relationships and create a real network that crosses city borders.”

The meeting closed with a presentation from Cindy Holzheimer, President and CEO of the Northern Ohio Area Chambers of Commerce (NOACC). Cindy highlighted the many cost-saving programs available to members, including health insurance, energy savings, payroll and HR discounts, and more.
As the luncheon wrapped up, the room was filled with energy, conversation, and a shared sense of purpose. Steve thanked everyone for their support, saying, “I can’t tell you how happy I am to see such a full room. We’ve grown fast—and that’s thanks to all of you. Together, we’re building something strong for our region’s business community.”
